The Beardwood Hospital is able to offer women a comprehensive Antenatal Care package under the care of Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Mr Mark Willett. Whilst we don’t offer private delivery services, Mr Willett will work in close partnership with the ladies’ NHS hospital to ensure continuity of care for her antenatal needs.
6 – 10 weeks - Early pregnancy and dating scan The pregnancy will be confirmed by ultrasound examination following which; Mr Willett will discuss the future care of the pregnancy.
16 weeks - Interim ultrasound and consultation
At this stage, an ultrasound examination will be undertaken to identify both soft markers for Downs syndrome and healthy progression of the pregnancy, followed by consultation.
18 – 20 weeks –Anatomy scan
Between 16 and 18 weeks of the pregnancy, an anatomy scan will be undertaken in order to assess the development of the baby, followed by consultation.
23 weeks – Uterine artery scan
At 23 weeks a uterine artery scan will be undertaken to measure the uterine arterial flow. This scan is useful for women with uncomplicated pregnancies in order to identify early risk of pre-eclampsia as well as women with known risk factors such as hypertension, a previous history of pre-eclampsia in pregnancy or poor placental function. The scan will be followed by a consultation.
26 weeks – Courtesy 4D ultrasound scan
